One of the main aims of the institute is the advancement of the philosophical disciplines and of the fields of knowledge in which its faculty is specialized. The institute’s professors take part regularly in numerous research projects at different levels of funding, European and regional.
The promotion of learning is one of the Institutes priorities, which translates in a continuous institutional effort to facilitate research to its faculty members, in terms of means (library, classroom equipment…etc.), teaching obligations and international institutional relationships.
At present different lines of research are being carried out at the center: " The intimacy in the integration and cultural identity: contemporary hermeneutics and phenomenology", financed by the of the Regional Government of Valencia, in which Professor Marcelo L. Cambronero takes part; the studies on Edith Stein's works, through courses and seminars; the analysis on relations between philosophy and literature, giving special attention both to the Greek tradition and to the community of thought formed around the work of Chesterton, C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien, in which Professors Eduardo Segura Fernandez and Guillermo Peris Bautista take part; or the line of research on catholic roots of Unamuno's work carried out by Maria Dolores Fernandez. At the same time seminars for faculty members are a valuable constant and much valued feature of academic life, many of them are open to the public, discussions and conferences, as well as frequent presence of foreign teachers who undertake research residence, give lectures or conduct seminars.
